Welcome to the College of Education at the University of New Mexico.  This is an exciting and challenging time to be an educator, and we hope that our website will provide you with the information and answers that you need to get started on that journey.  We are a comprehensive college that provides the broadest variety of careers in educational fields in the state of New Mexico. You can pursue careers as diverse as exercise sciences and athletic training to elementary and special education.

The College of Education is comprised of six outstanding departments:  Educational Leadership and Organizational Learning; Educational Specialties; Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences; Individual, Family, and Community Education; Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies, and Teacher Education. These departments are composed of a host of programs designed to meet the needs of school districts, clinics, tier I sports programs, and many other educational settings throughout the state and nation.

The College is home to an incredibly diverse faculty and staff who are dedicated to the creation of the schools of tomorrow using the best practices of today.  We draw on the best practices of the past, experiment with and research the latest issues, and develop professionals to succeed as the leaders of tomorrow. We are especially proud of our main campus and branch programs that provide educational opportunities to new professionals throughout the state of New Mexico.

Finally, our students lie at the heart of the College.  They bring a multiplicity of languages, cultural backgrounds, and perspectives to share with each other as they progress through their programs.  We are proud of all our students, faculty, and staff who work together to make the College of Education the integrated learning community that it is.  Please join us in meeting the challenges of today and tomorrow.
