UNM Commencement

Processional Line-up: Time to be announced
Ceremony: 6:00 p.m.

The Commencement Ceremony is the campus-wide graduation ceremony for students from all schools, colleges, and degree programs. Bachelor's and master's degree candidates will proceed across the stage and be recognized individually. Doctoral and terminal master's degree candidates will be hooded.

Processional Line-Up: Graduates will line up at the Creative Arts Building.

Program Listings: The programs will list the names of only those students who are completing ALL graduation requirements this semester. Students must have a pending degree status for the current semester by the time of the program publication deadline (typically 7 weeks before the ceremony). Students should contact their academic advisor if they are unsure of their degree status.

Caps, Gowns, and Tassel: Caps and gowns are required in order to participate in the University Commencement Ceremony. Doctoral candidates will be hooded during the ceremony. The tassel should be worn on your right before the ceremony and after being individually recognized you should move your tassel to the left.

Special Needs: The University of New Mexico wants to ensure that all guests and graduates safely share in the experience of the Commencement ceremony and have developed the following accommodations: The stage will be equipped with a large video screen. Signed language interpreters will be present, and they can be viewed on the video screen.

Graduates with special needs should request special assistance when signing up on the University Secretary's website to participate in the commencement ceremony. They will be contacted a few weeks prior to the ceremony to make appropriate accommodations. If you are a guest with special needs, please ask your graduate to request special assistance for you when he/she signs up to participate in the commencement ceremony. If required, the University Secretary’s Office will mail instructions to the graduate.

Parking: Take I-40 East in Albuquerque to the Louisiana Blvd exit (162), heading south. Enter through Gate 8 on Louisiana just south of Lomas. Guests will proceed to Tingley Coliseum. Graduates will line up at the Creative Arts Building.

Processional Line-Up: Auxiliary Gym just behind the Johnson Main Arena. A name card will be provided to you prior to lining up.

Caps, Gowns, and Tassel: Caps and gowns are NOT required in order to participate in the College of Education Convocation, but are encouraged. The tassel should be worn on your right before the ceremony and after being individually recognized you should move your tassel to the left.

Special Needs: Convocation will have an area on the arena floor at the south side for wheelchairs and those needing special assistance. An elevator is available on the mall level entrance and a ramp entrance is located on the north side of Johnson Center where there is handicap permit parking.

Parking: Free parking lots can be accessed off Central and a fee parking structure is next to the Johnson Arena. Handicap parking is available throughout the campus and in the structure.
