DESCRIPTION
The course of study leading to the Master of Science in health education at the University of New Mexico prepares students to assume positions in local, state and federal health education and health promotion agencies. Students receive a rigorous academic program that includes study in health behavior theory, epidemiology, program planning, measurement and evaluation, multicultural health education as well as study in complementary areas such as stress management, physical activity and aging, and prevention of health and behavior problems. Graduates of the M.S. in health education enter the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention workforce fully prepared to contribute to the ongoing national progress in reducing preventable and premature morbidity and mortality of various populations. In this way graduates become part of the nation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all Americans.
