Important Notice Regarding Contract and Grant Pre-Award Submission Deadlines

Investigators, Center Directors, and Department Administrators,

Please be aware that the UNM Pre-Award Office requires that grant and contract proposals must be submitted at least five working days in advance of the agency deadline. Since all proposals must first be reviewed and approved through the COE Research Office, it is critical that proposals be submitted to Bev Hall at least 7 working days in advance of the deadline.

Also note that the complexity of submission for large federal grants (specifically NIH, NSF) necessitates that Bev Hall has the proposal at least 10 working days in advance of the agency deadline. This is to insure that we can take care of all of the potential issues encountered both in final budget approval and online submission. The online submission process will be facilitated by Andrea Harvey, from the Technology and Education Center. Andrea may be contacted at 277-8190 or garciaa@unm.edu.

If, for any reason, you encounter an issue that looks as if it will create a challenge in meeting the deadlines described above, you must contact David Scott, Associate Dean for Research, to determine if a request for waiver is possible. Procrastination. amnesia, and/or “my dog ate the proposal” are not adequate reasons for the request!!

Please return to the PI Toolkit for additional instructions on submitting proposals.
