This internal UNM budget summary sheet accompanies the PDS and completed proposal. It summarizes the budget and budget narrative by putting the budget into standardized UNM format and account codes.
F&A Rates Memo
This is a memo from the Vice President for Research and Economic Development stating UNM negotiated F&A rates to be charged on all contract and grant proposals unless otherwise stated in individual written RFP guidelines.
Fringe Memo
This memo is a guide to provide all fringe benefit rates for salary categories and graduate student health insurance rates over a 5-year projection of time.
Proposal Submission
Conflict of Interest Form
An internal UNM form that must be completed by each PI or co-PI on every research proposal, proposals with human subjects, or internal UNM proposals such as RAC grants. Forms are completed and added with PDS form that routes to Pre-Award Services.
Cost Sharing Commitment Form
An internal UNM form, this form must be completed with signatures and budget when any kind of cost share is stated by the agency—to include matching, cost share, and in-kind (whether mandatory or voluntary).
F&A Reduction Request Form
Pre-Award Services requires this form to be completed whenever a reduced amount of F&A is requested in lieu of the standard UNM negotiated rate.

The Grants.gov website is where you go to find and apply for a variety of federal government grants. Most US Department of Education grants are now submitted through Grants.gov.
NSF FastLane Account Request
National Science Foundation requires PIs to have a password before they can work within NSF's application process called Fastlane. This link provides this on-line request form through our Pre-Award Services.

Guide for Principal Investigators
This excellent guide, published by Pre-Award Services, is designed to help PIs understand research administration at UNM and their obligations as UNM PIs. PIs are encouraged to become familiar with the contents of this guide, as it strives to demystify the numerous aspects of doing business with the various offices, including identifying funding sources, developing sound project management plans, securing approvals for proposals, and completing necessary forms.
Request for Approval to Spend Funds
When a short time frame is involved and the awarding of a grant is immanent, this form can be used to obtain an index number early so that spending paperwork can proceed.

Grants management training is required for every PI who holds a grant within UNM and must be renewed every three years.
