COE Office of Research and Administration

The Office of Research and Administration in the College of Education is responsible for facilitating and fostering a dynamic research climate within the college community. The purpose is to provide a supportive and responsive research environment that permits the development and success of college faculty as they realize their individual and collective research goals. In addition, the office is responsible for the design and management of information needed for planning, management, and decision-making throughout the college.

The types of support that are provided to College faculty in the furtherance of their research include:

  • The Aware.Net listserv tool, which provides notification of specific "request for proposals (RFP)" information by interest area. The 18 disciplinary areas range from American Indian Education to Technology in Education.
  • Proposal Support services, including: consultation and ideation at the initial stages of response to an RFP, budget design and consultation, negotiating with external and internal partners, subcontract development, electronic submission support, and troubleshooting.
  • Post Award Support services, including: continuation requests, budget management, human resources issues, strategic planning for upcoming proposals, budget and project close-out procedures.

In the area of information management and administration, the Office of Research and Administration provides the college the following services:

  • College-wide database design, development, and management, which includes the new NCATE database, a historical archive of COE data, and planning for new data resources needed in the future.
  • Assessment data and planning with an emphasis on accountability and responsiveness to external requests.  COE institutional data have resulted in a new focus on centralized access to program, department, and college assessment information. This includes the development of new web-based assessment instruments, tools, and procedures for the collection, aggregation, and reporting of college student performance data.

The Office of Research is dedicated to the dynamic and timely support of the faculty in the College of Education. The need for research evidence of educational practices grows in response to the increasing demands on the educational systems of the U.S. Quality research illuminates an oftentimes complex and confusing world by creating the context for positive changes in practice and learning environments.
