Athletic Training Education Program
The University of New Mexico Athletic Training Education Program (UNM-ATEP) offers a Bachelors of Science degree in athletic training. It is a highly competitive, challenging, and rewarding program that prepares graduates to work as a healthcare professional focusing on prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. The UNM-ATEP includes both didactic and clinical education courses. Course work includes recognition and evaluation of injury, therapeutic exercise, therapeutic modalities, administration and leadership. For more information on the UNM-ATEP curriculum, click here. For the clinical education, students will work under the supervision of a Preceptor, at a variety of clinical sites where they can apply the theories and techniques learned in the classroom.
The University of New Mexico Athletic Training Education Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) until 2017.

The mission of the UNM-ATEP is to provide a comprehensive and progressive, didactic and clinical foundation to prepare qualified professionals for a career in athletic training. Strong emphasis is placed upon the provision of opportunities within the curriculum for the development of skills encompassing the domains of athletic training. Through successful completion of the UNM-ATEP, graduates are prepared to pass the Board of Certification examination, to enter into the profession of athletic training as competent health care professionals, and provide optimal health care to the physically active.
