Program and Application Information

Doctor of Education and Doctor of Philosophy

Students interested in pursuing a doctoral-level degree must make an appointment to meet with the Special Education Program Coordinator prior to applying. Application can be found at www.unm.edu/apply/, or the Special Education web site, or by contacting the Special Education Graduate Programs Coordinator. The following documents will need to be uploaded to the online application:

  • Complete Graduate Application online http://www.unm.edu/apply/
  • $50.00 non-refundable application fee (pay with credit card online as part of Graduate Application)
  • One official transcript from each college you have attended (Exception: UNM transcripts)
  • One unofficial transcript from each college and you have attended (Exception: UNM transcripts)
  • Letter of Intent
  • SPCD Doctoral Application form. Email the completed Department Application to specialeducation@unm.edu.
  • Professional Vita (Resume)
  • Professional Writing Sample
  • Five Letters of Recommendation (Recommend letters from professionals who are directly familiar with applicant’s academic and professional work)
