2011 Graduate Colloquium
The UNM College of Education is proud to present Dr. Nel Noddings as the 14th Annual COE Colloquium keynote speaker. Dr. Noddings is renowned for her work with ethics of care in education. She is an advocate for care and developing relationships in schools, as an educational goal, as well as a means to achieve educational goals. More broadly, Dr. Noddings has also contributed to the field of educational theory.
Dr. Noddings is currently Stanford University's Jacks Professor Emeriti of Child Education, holding the John. W. Porter Chair in Urban Education at Eastern Michigan University. She studied mathematics at Montclair State College as an undergraduate, and then spent over 20 years as a K-12 teacher and administrator. She's also earned a master's degree in mathematics from Rutgers University and her doctorate in educational philosophy from Stanford University.
